steeger
St. jost

The single vineyard Steeger St. Jost stretches from Bacharach to the district of Steeg. Delicate Rieslings with great longevity are produced here.

The south-facing location consists almost exclusively of clay shale, covered with a layer of drifting sand, which originates from volcanic eruptions more than 10,000 years ago in the Neuwied Basin. The namesake is Saint Jodocus, who became known as a pilgrim and hermit. A chapel was dedicated to him, which is located between Bacharach and Steeg until the Reformation.

Island wine
Heylesen Werth

The island of Heylesen-Werth is located directly in front of Bacharach in the Rhine. The wine, classified as a first site growth, is also affectionately referred to here as “island wine”. We are proud to be able to manage this unique property in monopoly.

The slate rock typicall for the region can also be found again in the Rhine. The vines grow on a slate base covered with sand, which gives the wine its individual expression. The special microclimate on the island nevertheless results in a distinctive acidity that is typical of the Middle Rhine region.
